Happy Wednesday (over the hump day) Everyone! Time is flying by fast and we're at mid-week already. After discovering "The Next Level" blogsite thru Jacque, I've been trying to keep up with their challenges as this is a very informative site with great tutorials and wonderful ideas so go check it out here. I also came across Anjou Krelovich's site. She is hosting this week's Creatively Cute Blogger Challenge, and I decided to combine the two challenges into one.
The Next Level's challenge is a sketch challenge featuring an arched pocket that holds a removable tag.
Anjou Krelovich hosted this week's Creatively Cute Blogger Challenge and it is to use PINK. Any kind of pink whether hot or soft, in a color combo or alone. I thought about this stamp I got from Sugar Nellie called "Poise" by Leanne Ellis.
My card base is 5.5" square and I used Bazzill's October CS which is a nice lightly frosted pink CS. I cut the arched piece from a Making Memories Lovebird scallop DP and the arch fit perfectly on the scallops both on the left and bottom. I adhered this arched piece to the card base on the left and bottom only to leave an opening for the pocket for the tag. I used my Sizzix Flowers & Vine #3 die to die-cut the black flourish and it fit perfectly on the arch so I was very happy, then I added some pink half pearls.
I stamped my Poise image with Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI CS and colored the image with Copics. It was very easy to color because of the simple line and lots of open space which made it fast to color. As you can see, I didn't use too many markers! LOL! I love this! I used R83 for her dress, 100 (black) for the stripes, and C7 and C9 for her hair. I liked the way her "almost" black hair came out and it's solid without any lines in her hair so it was very easy to color. Then I cut her out and angled her over the flourish. The tag is a Sizzix Super Scallop Tag die. I cut one in SU! Pink Pirouette and one in CTMH black to separate the pink from the tag and the pink card base. The sentiment is from SU! Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set and I think it's a cool saying!
For the inside of my card, I basically carried on the look from the front of the card and added another Sizzix flourish die cut but used flat flowers for the inside so it doesn't bulge too much, then I die-cut my round and round scallops from Sizzix dies, again matting the pink with the black. This is the note card to write a personal note and it slips into the arched pocket.
Well, sorry this was such a long post. Thank you for taking time to sit through this with me. It's a very fast, simple, pretty sketch but the "ingredients" make it sound like at big pot of stew! Have a wonderful day and soon the weekend will be here.
